About

EMDR therapist, LCSW, PMH-C.jpg

Hello, I am Angélica Figueroa

(ella/she/her)

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. Prior to private practice, I provided community based mental health services in school settings and the respective home of the folx I had the opportunity to support, from childhood to mature adults, from 2012 to 2015. From there, I provided mental health services in integrated medical health centers to folx across the lifespan, for several years, before taking on leadership and management roles.

My journey as a therapist began in childhood. I grew up struggling to be understood by the very systems that were supposed to protect and provide community. I struggled with the traumatic effects created by systemic oppression and lack of access to health equity.

As I embarked on my own journey toward healing, strength and reconnection to my identity, I’ve learned lessons that created the space to embrace navigating life as a neurodivergent person—it is formidable and liberating to dive into that growth. These lessons from my own healing journey drive the compassion and empathy to hold a space where folx will be heard, seen, understood, and validated.

Modalities, Certifications, and Trainings that Inform my Practice

I received my EMDR foundational training via The Institute for Creative Mindfulness for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ clinicians. I am both a certified EMDR therapist and an approved consultant in the EMDR modality. I continue to attend consultation hours and advanced training. Additionally, I am certified in Perinatal Mood Disorders (PMH-C) through the Postpartum Support International.
